Top Three Hairstyles of 2022

At age 3, actress Shirley Temple introduced the world to her tight curly hair. Years later, people still ask for these “Shirley Temple” curls.

Celebrities and influencers play a significant role in determining what hairstyles are trending. Whether it’s a style for a movie or an everyday look, people are likely to copy it.

Celebrities and influencers play a significant role in determining what hairstyles are trending. Whether it’s a style for a movie or an everyday look, people are likely to copy it.

Throughout 2022, celebrities have created many trends, from curly afros to short pixie cuts. Here are the top three of the year:

MicroLinks

Hair extensions such as wigs have always been popular. But this year, celebrities like Queen Naija are no longer wearing them. They’re switching over to a more realistic-looking alternative.

Stylists created micro links so people could leave their natural hair out while wearing extensions. Because this style was very versatile, being able to go in ponytails and buns, it became one of the most popular styles this year.

Large Knotless Braids

Knotless braids became popular in the summer of 2019. People love this style because it’s very lightweight. This style gives the illusion that the braids are coming from the scalp. Stylists achieved this by adding extensions at the end of the braid instead of at the root.

One of the downsides of individual knotless braids is that it can take over eight hours for the style to be completed, depending on the size.

Jayda Cheeves, a well-known influencer, solved that problem.

In April of this year, Jayda was seen wearing large individual knotless braids. People loved them because not only were they stylish, but they also only took about 3 hours to get done. These large knotless braids are now known as the “Jayda Wayda” braids.

 Temporary Loc Extensions

Temporary locs are another trending style of the year introduced by celebrities such as Zendaya, Rihanna, and Ciara.

Locs have always been a relatively common hairstyle in the United States. People like them because they are low maintenance and promote hair growth. On the other hand, many people love the style but are not ready to commit to locking their natural hair.

Stylists began offering temporary locs extensions so those who were afraid to commit could still wear the style. The style takes about four hours and lasts about two months on average.
